What is the EU Omnibus Directive Article 6a?
The EU Omnibus Directive (Article 6a of Directive 98/6/EC) requires any merchant offering a price reduction to clearly show the lowest price applied during a period of not less than 30 days prior to the discount. Failure to comply can result in regulatory fines of up to 4% of annual turnover per EU member state.
Does PriceLedger track products or individual variants?
Individual variants. The law applies to the specific item a customer purchases, so every SKU and variant (e.g. Size M, Color Navy) has its own independent 30-day historical ledger.
What happens during the first 30 days after installing the app?
Because Shopify does not provide past historical price webhooks prior to installation, PriceLedger displays a conservative, legally compliant 'since tracking began' label for the first 30 days, then automatically transitions to the full 30-day lookback claim.
Does PriceLedger slow down my Shopify storefront?
Zero slowdown. PriceLedger uses native Shopify Theme App Extensions (Liquid) that render purely on Shopify's servers during page generation. We inject no third-party JavaScript tracking scripts into your storefront.
Does PriceLedger support multi-currency stores and 0 or 3 decimal currencies?
Yes. PriceLedger calculates and stores price history in ISO-4217 minor currency units (cents), natively supporting standard 2-decimal currencies (EUR, USD, GBP), 0-decimal currencies (JPY, KRW), and 3-decimal currencies (KWD, BHD, JOD).
How are my store data and privacy handled upon uninstalling?
PriceLedger does not collect shopper personal data. Upon uninstalling, your historical price logs are preserved for 60 days to satisfy statutory audit requirements, after which they are permanently purged. Mandatory GDPR redact webhooks are processed within 48 hours.
